While the Multilateral Agreement on Investment will never be signed, the MAI-NOT discussion group lives on as a very strong Anti-Globalization forum. There will be a memorial Website at: http://www.paulgross.com/terrycottam/ ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sun, 7 Nov 1999 21:23:21 -0500 (EST) From: Dianne Murray To: opirg-events@ox.org Subject: Funeral for A Friend: Terry Cottam, 1958-1999 R.I.P.: Terry Richard Cottam 1958-1999. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- It is with the deepest regret that I pass on the unhappy news, on behalf of Terry's mom and Terry's friend, Daniel Guertin, that Terry passed away on Friday Nov. 5th, after a 2 week illness. :-( Both the funeral and visitations will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, which is located in downtown Ottawa, on Kent St. at Lisgar, Ottawa, ON. The service will be on Wednesday, folowed by cremation and intermment at Pinecrest Cemetary. The wake is to be held on Tuesday November 9th, twice: Once at 2-4 pm and again at 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be on Wednesday November 10th at 4 pm, followed by cremation and interment at Pinecrest. ** Dan and Terry's family and close friends are asking that, ** ** in lieu of flowers, donations be made to organizations with ** ** which he was involved and which he supported, such as CFOB ** ** [Canadian Friends of Burma] and ETAN [East Timor Alert Network].** Although Reid and Daniel are doing their best to locate everyone whom Terry knew to let them know of his passing so that they might pay Terry their last respects, there is some trouble locating people due to a missing phone book. Therefore Dan and Reid have asked me to ask you to please pass this unfortuante news on to anyone you know who knew Terry who is not on the list so that they may attend the wake[s] and/or service. Terry touched many peole's lives and we want to make sure that everyone who needs to know he has pased on, does. Thank you for any help in this regard... :-( Terry, we'll miss you... May you find the peace that eluded you here on earth. - This is the OPIRG-events@ox.org list. Announcement only please. Please forgive the duplication, it wont be a regular thing. Given the weight of the content I thought it worth sending again. Thanks. Mark Jowett --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM: Bob Stilger QLN: Robert's Days Grow Shorter Dear Friends, I am writing with another request for energy and prayer. We are moving Robert Theobald home from the hospital today. There is no easy way for me to say this, so I will simply say that he comes home to die. Since his return from Australia two and a half weeks ago and his almost immediate hospitalization, he has continued to decline in health. Each time one problem has been fixed, or at least attended to, another has occurred. He is weak and exhausted but still has an occasional twinkle in his eye. His wish is for as much energy and quality in his remaining days as possible, for the prolongation of his life. He does not feel able to see anyone beyond those of us who have become close family. He sends his thanks for the prayers, well wishes and energy which have been sent his way. He is dying. And I ask that you hold him gently in the cradle of your heart and the palm of your hand. Sending him whatever energy you are able, and healing prayers to make his passing whole. Cards may be send to 202 East Rockwood, Spokane, WA 99202. Some flowers would be nice because he loves them -- but not from too many people, because we don't want to overwhelm the apartment. You might want to check with me first via e-mail before sending, if you are so inclined. Robert has had a inspired life and has touched many of us. Work which he has co-created with many of us will continue. He feels his life is complete. And, there will be time later for speaking of what comes next. I ask for beams of light and energy flooding to Spokane. Bob Robert L. CKCU Radio's Special Blend will be broadcasting daily reports from Seattle next week. Needless to say, this is not the same information that you'll see in the National Post. Announced plans are to broadcast 30 minutes each morning at 7:30 AM. As I listen this morning I note that much more than just a half hour has been related to the WTO, so I recommend listening to the entire of Special Blend the rest of the week, and again on Monday for the final WTO related show.
